Speaker Bios

FAYE COLLINS is vice-president of the Ontario Daylily Society and grows close to 800 cultivars from the old heirlooms to the latest trendsetters and northern hardy hybrids. She also grows heirloom tomatoes and a wide variety of herbs of all sorts. The Butterfly Meadow in Brooklin is her baby and she has now taken over The Brooklin Horticultural Garden which is still very much in the planning stage.

JUDI DENNY has been gardening and growing Peonies for 35 years and is a member of the Canadian Peony Society since its beginning in 1997. She helped initiate the Peony Garden at the Oshawa Valley Botanical Garden, is a member of the OVBG Peony Festival Committee & Peony Show Chair, and is an active member of the Brooklin Horticultural Society. 

JANYCE CLARK has been avidly gardening for 35 years. While most of her experience has been in Ontario, she has also gardened extensively in Calgary and Northern BC. She has been a Master Gardener since 2003 and considers perennial gardens and their design to be her primary interest.

DAVID TOMLINSON graduated in Horticulture from the Royal Botanical Gardens in England in 1960. In Canada since 1973, his major projects included the master planning and design of several national, provincial and municipal parks. In 1979, he was commissioned to produce a Master Plan for a 130 hectare botanical Garden at Barinas, Venezuela, and received an Ontario Association Landscape Architecture Design Award for his work. Recently he has been deeply involved in ecological site evaluation to assess development impacts. David is a respected ornithologist. He was commissioned by the Ottawa Field Naturalist Club to design a 25 acre wildlife garden at the experimental Farm in Ottawa. He has completed several projects for the City of Toronto to naturalize and enrich wildlife habitat in several of their major parks and open spaces.

DENIS FLANAGAN IS Well known for his shows on HGTV, The Indoor Gardener and One Garden Two looks. Denis also appears on Global TV giving weekly tips and fills in at CFRB on The Garden Show when Mark Cullen is away. Denis also represents Landscape Ontario Trades Association promoting the many benefits of horticulture, and delights audiences with his knowledge and humour at events across the country.
